Reigniting the passion

I had been confused when suddenly I felt I didn't want this anymore.  Baka natatagalan lang ako. When I started in 2013, I thought it would only take a year for the three modules but it has required more time than that.  I have learned that it also requires commitment and enthusiasm (all the time).

I was losing those.  So, I took a two-month break to look for a day job and to think (the night schedule was driving me crazy and making me cranky).  I was even thinking of putting fashion school aside.  I was so focused and in a snap, hindi na.  What happened?

I tried to look for a job, but no luck. So I prayed for guidance and realizations that God may lead me to the right path and decision.  If the job I applied to would only make everything worse, then please don't give it to me.  The response was quick.  After a couple of days, I have realized that I didn't want to leave.  Not yet.  A firm not yet.  In fact, my job right now is the job that I need.  I have forgotten that this job was His gift to me four years ago.  A friend and my sister also told me to take it one at a time.  For the first time, I listened.  I also have tried to forget I work in the night shift.  The attitude shift has done wonder to my disposition and ... sleep.

So I enrolled.  I am in my third year now.  Today was my first day.  But I guess after today's class, my motivation went from zero to two  <10 being the highest>.  I still have 12 months to bring it back to a ten.  And yes! I will be joining this year's exhibit.  I hope to make it again. :)

Good vibe moment: My creation is still displayed at school.

Project 6 - done

Yesterday was fitting day for my last project, so that means... Secondary class na! *sooooooo happy*
I will take the exam after the holiday. Not an ounce of fear, I am thrilled. Although, I haven't decided yet whether to take the new module or the old module.

Embrace it, don't fight it.

Yesterday at lunch I was praying to God that He reminds me how much I've wanted to become a fashion designer and that may He rekindle the flame of my passion for fashion design because honestly, I was losing it - the passion.

Know what, he answered my prayer.

Around 3:00pm, one of the school heads gathered the students for a general assembly to discuss where Slim's heading towards 2013.

They said, "Many students are in school pero wala sa school ang isip."  True enough it's been over a month since I started and yet, I didn't feel any enthusiasm in what I have been doing there (or I was trying too hard to feel it), pero ang dragging especially pag Friday na papasok na naman ako bukas. Sure, I could do the tasks, I was learning them but that was it.  They were just tasks to me. Lumilipad ang isip lagi pag andun ako at nagcocomplain na ako sa gastos, oh noooo (I never complained about anything on what I wanted before). I realized I was missing the point the whole time because of loss of enthusiasm and I even forgot to look at this pursuit as an "investment." It was a blow when one of my classmates had to remind me that, "Isipin mo na lang investment ito."

Going back to the assembly, they reminded us that schools should be maximized to hone our skills and to be "reality ready" when we graduated. I guess I just had to hear it myself from someone, "This is your dream since you were a kid, develop a right attitude. Decide now that you want it. Focus. Embrace it, don't fight it."

Now, I want to be back on track. I want is so much, it now becomes a "necessity" in my life and in my being.

I sew it

Today was a long day at school. I'm still having a difficult time understanding the Patternmaking and Drafting part. I can measure, I can draft, I can do the patterns as stated on the book but I honestly can't picture how those lines would turn into a blouse, a skirt, or a dress. Oh oh. It still doesn't make sense to me. :P

The happy part though, I'm going to sew next week. They already taught me how to work on the machine today.  They also taught me how to put the instruments for it then they asked me to sew straight lines, crooked lines, spirals, etc.  It was... therapeutic actually. Not as scary as I thought it would be. I quite enjoyed it.

I should be happy, I did good (di naman naipit daliri ko sa needle) considering it was my first time to ever sew something using a real sewing machine.

First Day - student again :)

It was a long, gloomy, and rainy day at school plus I had a terrible headache throughout the day. I had a long travel due to LRT's technical problem so I had to commute the long way to Magallanes, not really knowing how to get there. I was 30 minutes late but it was okay. I was trying not to feel negative about it so I was just thinking, "okay lang to and this is just part of the experience."

It was an exhausting commute but it was all worth it when I got in.  I was glad the classroom was air conditioned.  Also, the rulers I bought were incorrect but the great news was they had extra ones and they sold it to me for only Php 450. So it just means, i no longer have to buy the Php 3000 worth of Fairgate rulers. It was a relief.

Today, I learned how to take body measurements and I also learned how to draft measurements in brown paper. It was tedious and difficult but I know it was only because I'm a beginner at this.  In time I know I could do it in less than an hour, or maybe in minutes -just like them.

Have a great rainy Saturday! :)

School Supplies Shopping

I have been shopping for school supplies since last week and I would say that I missed this.  I'm really enjoying this back to school thing. ^_^*

These are not yet complete, I still need the set of rulers - L-square and Hip curve. I was told to visit Divisoria to look for alternatives. I still can't grasp the thought that these rulers cost P3000! I must definitely look for a more affordable brand.

January 12, 2013

On January 12, my plan to study fashion is coming true. Finally, after so many years it-is-happening.

"To enroll in a fashion school" has always been in my to-do list since 2009. Due to time and budget constraints, it never happened. Laging may mangyayari para hindi matuloy. More than anything, I've always wanted to become a fashion designer since I was 10 years old.

To get started is all I need; and now, I'm doing it.

And I suppose, there is a right time and right place for everything.

Now is the right time and Slim's is the right place! :)
