Lesson learned from shopping
My father taught us to always consider quality when buying things. Always.
This is not limited to high-end brands. I mean, I know I can't afford designer items, yet. However, if I really want it, I'll definitely save up for it. It's going to be worth it. I learned that from my father.
Now, I'm also learning to buy what I only love. To always buy the best I can afford. It's a discipline that I really want to embrace. In the long run, I know I'd end up spending less because quality items last. And, who throw things they love?
My most memorable experience here was when I wanted to buy a pair of quality sunglasses, I really wanted an aviator but because it was too expensive, I chose a wayfarer.
In less than two years, I still wanted an aviator and I ended up buying it as well.
Lesson learned: I just ended up spending more because I did not choose the one I really wanted in the first place.
That's when I begin to instill the idea that we must always go for the first options we have in our minds instead of going for a cheaper and convenient ones. The goal is to save yourself from the hassle of what ifs and the excess of unessentials.
Same thing as life, what do you really want to eat? What do you really crave for? Where do you really want to go? What do you really want to do? What do you really want to be? Who do you really want to be with? Who do you really love? What is it, really?
Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
One of my favorite prayers. :) |
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Catch some quality Zzzz
I'm putting into good use the ceramic oil burner my friend had given me. So, I bought some tealight candles, aromatherapy oil, and ginger tea.
In fact, I have been getting really good night sleeps because of this "experiment." I'm not sure if it's because of the lavender scent, of the candle, of the ginger tea, or all.
I think this is my favorite bedtime ritual so far.
Good sleep. Candle. Lavender essential oil. Ginger tea. |
Helpful Tips:
Oil Burners
Essential oils are so concentrated that a few drops can be placed into a warm oil burner filled with water to release wondrous scents into any environment.

Lavender is most commonly used for anxiety, depression, mental exhaustion, insomnia, scrapes and wounds, digestive problems, headaches, skin problems and women's health problems.

Repost: It tells a story
"When all the diverse elements of your past and present are brought together they tell a story: about you, the lifestyle you lead and the space you call home."

Bali Bliss
I love going to spa and it's one of the many ways I pamper myself.
Last night, I brought my mom to the new spa I discovered near our village, Bali Bliss Nail and Day Spa.
She loved it. I loved it. So, we're definitely coming back. Overall it was good customer service and surprisingly affordable.

ChiRho - Part 1
Made happened by the ChiRho Dream Team: Eona, Marqui, myself, Entrep students (for their designs) and friends who modeled for the cover and more friends to help out in the shoot. |
The cover choice. I like the other one, though. |
To do what I do best. To make that great
feeling part of my life again.
It has always been one of my favorite memories from college.
I realized that anything we dream of would happen. So, we must love the dream we create in our hearts and minds because it is going to happen. For sure.
In my Senior year, I became the Creative Director of our school's official newsmag, ChiRho. It was a surprise because I was never part of any major organizations and I just gave it a shot. Wala namang mawawala.
To cut the long story short, God gave me the opportunity to be with ChiRho to experience what doing what I love felt like. I tell you, it was a great feeling.
You're tired but your energy is still high. You're giddy. You're happy. You're radiant because of the happy vibe you exude - very much like when you're inlove. Suddenly, everything has meaning. And that feeling that you're putting into good use what God has given you, it is just so fulfilling. Ganun ang pakiramdam.
This is why I never stop working on the fulfillment of my dream to become a fashion designer.
I know this is the kind of life that is destined for me because God lets me experience the joy of it over and over through opportunities as such even after college.
How about you? What are you passionate about? What is your dream?
My Life Design
If you were to design your life, how would it be?
As for me, I want it to be elegant and lovely. To explain further I came up with three key points:
Simple yet splattered with meaning consists of love, friends, family, purpose, simple joys and lovely experiences;
Intelligent luxury which means refusing the excess and embracing the beauty of quality over quantity. Remember, "one of everything and choose the best I can have, always."? That explains this; finally,
Simply luxurious, a life that is centered in creating a balance and again, quality in order to fulfill genuine contentment in life. A life that is true to myself and a life that is uncluttered and just, lovely.
