Look at my own toolbox
Today, I am reminded to look at my own toolbox.
By toolbox, it means, your strengths even weaknesses. A doctor's toolbox is different from an artist's toolbox. Work with what you have and never compare. :)

Let your actions speak
People reveal themselves through their actions. Talk might thrill, but action reveals.

The Simply Luxurious Life blog of Shannon Ables
I am not really into blogs years back, I only learned how to read one when I started working here at PCM. There's a blogger I really adored so much. Her blog is not only stylish, her writing technique is superb. I have such high respect for individuals who can right so well and so straightforward. In her blog it's like a marriage of life and style - seriously. I hardly visit fashion blogs with such sensible content and so when I seen her blog, I am impressed. Visit it and you'd know what I mean, visit the archive page, too. You'd learn a lot. I am a fan!

To impress or to influence?
I read something tonight that I had almost forgotten. It was from my journal from The Purpose Driven Life. It said, "At some point in your life, you must decide whether to impress people or influence people (Chapter 35)."
I think, between the two, the difference lies on "why" you do something? Do you do it to be applauded? Or, do you do it to help other people -with our without applause?
Which do you like better?

The value of simplicity
Day after day I'm learning to value simplicity. Simplicity as a term, is broad. Everyone would have different ways to define it. There are some who see it as being "plain" or being deprived of luxuries in life.
I see it on a positive note, though.
It is less of things and people in life but these are things and people of quality, from careful selection and is possessing value.
Say, you want to buy a dress but it's expensive.
Why not save up for it instead of 10 alternative dresses? Believe me you'd only spend more if you choose the latter. Reminder: Only own things that you love and are well made.
Going back, decluttering is necessary in the concept of simplicity.
To me, it is an act being manifested when one is attaining mental clarity or when one is beginning to be more focused and simpler about his or her choices.
In decluttering, I think anyone can start in their room.
You have 10+ bags but you only use one.
You have 10+ dresses but you only wear two.
You have 10+ shoes but you only wear three.
So on and so forth.
Guilty?
Why not give away the ones you don't use? Declutter. Just do it. Trust me, you'd like the feeling afterwards.
It helps you simplify and have less of the unnessentials both literally and figuratively. What's more, it clears the mind. And, it just does. Like a deep-seated excess baggage within you, it just goes away and you're relieved afterwards.
Simplicity is a lifestyle.
Simplicity is part of My Life Design.
Simplicity is Quality.

My Life Design
If you were to design your life, how would it be?
As for me, I want it to be elegant and lovely. To explain further I came up with three key points:
Simple yet splattered with meaning consists of love, friends, family, purpose, simple joys and lovely experiences;
Intelligent luxury which means refusing the excess and embracing the beauty of quality over quantity. Remember, "one of everything and choose the best I can have, always."? That explains this; finally,
Simply luxurious, a life that is centered in creating a balance and again, quality in order to fulfill genuine contentment in life. A life that is true to myself and a life that is uncluttered and just, lovely.
Get an idea of the life design I want on my Tumblr (through pictures and quotes)

10 Daily Reminders on Bad Days
10 Things to Remind Yourself on a Daily Basis
Bad days can be extremely overpowering sometimes. When we're having a bad day, everything feels wrong and the day seems to get even worse as we sink further into frustration and despair. By the end of the day, all we want to do is pull the covers up over our heads and block it all out.
3. You are not always in control. You cannot predict when certain things will or should happen, or how everything will turn out. Sometimes you just have to stop pushing and let go.
4. What other people think is irrelevant. I was a miserable slave to the opinions of others. It got to a point where I was trying so hard to please everyone but myself. Don’t let your immediate reaction to criticism be to change whatever it is you’re being criticized for. Do whatever feels right to you, regardless of what other people have to say about it.
5. Don’t give up. If you’re fighting for something that means a lot to you, do not stop fighting
whenever you happen to fall short. Remember why you are fighting for it.
6. You don’t have to know all the answers. No one ever has life all figured out. We are always learning and growing. Life itself is a mystery and it’s okay to feel clueless sometimes.
7. You are enough. All of us have had times in our lives where we have thought, “I’m not smart enough or pretty enough or strong enough or exciting enough to do _____.” Give yourself a chance instead of forming limiting beliefs.
8. Stay present. Try not to dwell on the past or worry about the future. Take everything one day at a time.
9. Your feelings will not kill you. I know that heartbreak, grief, depression, or resentment might make you feel like you’re dead and breathing, but you have the strength to get through whatever life throws at you. Hold on and see yourself through it.
10. You are human. This is probably the biggest reminder of them all. You will make mistakes. You will hurt other people and other people will hurt you. You won’t always feel happy and positive. Next time you feel the urge to beat yourself up over any of these things, remind yourself that you are an imperfect human being instead.
When I clawed my way out of a depressive phase last year, it was a daily challenge to keep myself from falling back into that phase again. I had to go through a process of re-building my self-esteem and re-evaluating my life. But there were days when I was not very successful with these things and the negative thoughts that stayed with me for so long would interfere again.
It sort of felt like climbing up and over a steep hill and every time I let a negative or discouraging thought sink in, my foot would slip and I would roll all the way back down to the bottom of the hill and have to start all over again.
On the bad days, I would feel like it would never end and that I would always be unhappy.
To achieve mental balance, I have to make a habit of reminding myself of a few important things that I think we all tend to forget when there is a black cloud looming over our heads.
1. Do not lose sight of what truly matters. Does that clogged sink signify the end of the world? Are you going to remember or even care that the stranger you smiled at in the coffee shop didn’t smile back? When we’re having a bad day, we seem to zoom in on petty things and complain about them. Next time you’re pulling your hair out over something, ask yourself if it really matters.
2. It is okay to be alone or pull back from the world. Sometimes we just need to step back and re-evaluate a situation, a relationship, or just life in general. When I went through my healing period, I spent a lot of time alone as I tried to become my own best friend again. If you need to go into hiding for awhile and work on stitching yourself back up, take the time to do that. It is so important to pull back and spend quality time with yourself every now and then.

Re-post: God keeps his promises
Got this from Tumblr. :)
spiritualinspiration:
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up” (Galatians 6:9, NLT)
Are you praying for something that’s taking longer than you thought or expected? No matter how long you may have been standing on God’s promises, don’t give up! Your season is coming. Your harvest of blessing is on its way. It might be today, it might be tomorrow, it might be next week, next month or next year; but remember, at just the right time, you will experience your breakthrough.
Be encouraged today because God is faithful and His promises are true. Keep standing, keep hoping, keep believing. Keep doing good. Keep declaring the promises of God over your life. Choose to be around people who are going to encourage you and fill your heart and mind with God’s Word. Let a song of praise come out of your mouth. Press on in faith and keep an attitude of victory. Don’t get tired of doing what is right because your harvest of blessing is on the way!

First Love Yourself
You either like me or you don’t. It took me Twenty-something years to learn how to love myself, I don’t have that kinda time to convince somebody else. - Unknown
This made me smile. I suddenly remembered researching and reading a lot on happiness, self-worth, optimism, pretty much... anything self-help. Career mode talaga. Simply because, I wanted to fully grasp what "Love Yourself" meant.
A year has passed and I'm still learning it but now I can say that, it can be summed up to knowing or being aware of your self-worth. When you know your worth as a person, you know what you deserve. And if you know what you deserve (and not settle for less), then... YES, you love yourself. :)
Place your heart in the hands of God...
I think this is worthy of a post. Reading this makes me feel, I too will meet someone worthy of my time and love someday. And, when that day comes, I just know - I'll get it right this time because it's God-given. :)
